 counter-balanced trucks

COURSE AIM:

To train operators of counter-balanced lift trucks to the standards set by the Joint Industry Council and in accordance with the HSE Approved Code of Practice for the Training of Lift Truck Operators.

This course covers the following areas:

  • Health & safety at work Act
  • Pre- operational checks
  • Care & maintenance of traction batteries
  • Safety rules for operators
  • Lift truck stability
  • Safe operating procedures
  • Stacking & de-stacking procedures
  • Handling large loads
  • Loading & unloading of vehicles

The importance of ensuring that operators are training in accordance with HSE guidance can not be over estimated.   This course  is designed to accommodate a maximum of 3 delegates, per instructor, per machine in order to comply with the HSE ACOP.   The length of course will depend upon the experience an operator has gained in the use of lift trucks, however in order to comply with national standards the following criteria applies:

Novice Operator (less than 6 months experience) 5 Day course

Experienced Operator (more than 6 months experience) 3 Day course

Previously trained & certificated operators1 Day refresher course

Operators may only operate equipment on which they have been trained and certificated.   The common types of lift trucks include:Counter-balanced, Reach, Side loader, Container Handlers, Rough Terrain, Telescopic, Narrow Aisle and Pedestrian Operated machines.
